Greg Jeschke
27 News Anchor 5, 6 & 10pm

Coming to WKOW meant coming home for news anchor Greg Jeschke. After growing up on a farm north of Madison and graduating from Poynette High School in 1980, Greg spent the next 24 years moving around the country building his career as an award-winning broadcast journalist. He actually began before he left Poynette, getting his first job at WIBU radio when he was 16. Greg made the switch to television news six years later as anchor at our sister station, WAOW in Wausau. Since then he has anchored and reported in Toledo, Portland, Reno and San Francisco.

He and his wife Carmen have a young son, Sam. The whole family is excited about being back in the Madison area, where many of Greg's family members still live.

Kim graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Speech Communications. While at the U of M, she was part of the women's gymnastics team and a member of the 1998 Big Ten Championship team.

Roland Beres
27 News Wake Up Wisconsin Anchor

Roland Beres began his career in television news in 1990 and has called Madison home for the past six years. Before coming to WKOW 27 as an anchor on 27 News Wake Up Wisconsin and 27 News at 11, he spent six and a half years anchoring a top rated morning show at KTVB in Boise, Idaho. He spent a year anchoring the award winning "Exploring Idaho", a half hour program that featured the interesting places and people of Idaho. Before that, he spent two years anchoring the weekend news at KVEW in the Tri-cities, Washington.
Roland specialized in covering the cleanup of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, the most polluted nuclear site in the country. He was also one of the first reporters ever allowed into the deteriorating nerve gas stockpile at the Army Depot in Umatilla, Oregon. Roland got his start anchoring the 11 o'clock news at a bureau in Roseburg, Oregon back in 1990.

Roland and Carol Beres have two children Sasha and Ryan.

Barbara Vaughan
27 News Wake Up Wisconsin and 11am News Anchor

After a six-year break from the news business to be what she affectionately terms the “family anchor,” Barbara Vaughan joined the 27 News team in November 2006 as co-anchor of Wake Up Wisconsin.
Barbara’s career began at KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls, ID where she anchored weekends for a little over one year. She then spent a year anchoring weekends in Lincoln, NE., where she earned a Nebraska Broadcasters award. In 1993, Barbara moved to Omaha and worked nearly five years at WOWT-TV, anchoring mornings and at noon, then weekends, and finally co-anchoring the station’s newly launched 4:00 pm newscast. Her goal to work in a top 20 market was realized in 1997 when she became weekend anchor at KMSP-TV in Minneapolis, MN.
Since 2001, Barbara has been a freelance voiceover and on-camera professional. When her husband’s career brought their family to Wisconsin in January 2006, she couldn’t resist a return to her first love – broadcast journalism. “I feel privileged to be back in the news business and I’m eager to bring relevant, meaningful stories to people in the Southern Wisconsin!”
Barbara and her husband have two daughters. In her spare time she enjoys running and reading.

Vanessa Shirley
27 News Weekend Anchor/Reporter

Vanessa Shirley anchors the weekend edition of 27 News and produces the weekly segment, "People Making A Difference".

She's interviewed numerous politicians and celebrities, but says it's the stories of "ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances" she loves the most. Those are the stories she believes truly make a difference and make her job rewarding.

Vanessa comes to Madison from KSWT-TV in Yuma, AZ where she was the main anchor. Prior to that, she anchored the morning show at KGWN-TV in Cheyenne, WY and worked as an education reporter in Santa Ana, CA.

Tony Galli
27 News Reporter

Tony Galli's more than two decades as a broadcast journalist include literally dozens of exclusive reports involving major news events in Wisconsin.

Galli's reporting has included the first details of many breaking news stories, including: NFL MVP Quarterback Brett Favre's hospitalization for addiction to painkillers; the suspensions of Madison firefighters in a federal cocaine probe; the plea bargain which settled Audrey Seiler's case of faked abduction; and former UW-Madison Vice Chancellor Paul Barrows' abuse of sick leave during a nationwide job search.

In 1997, Galli went "dumpster diving" and found that personal and financial information of bank customers had been routinely tossed into dumpsters without being shredded. Galli's reporting led to a new state law to increase protections against identity theft.

For many years, Tony has served as emcee for the Madison live broadcast segment of the annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Labor Day Telethon. He is especially thankful for the Madison area's generosity for the MDA's Summer Camp for kids, where he has volunteered as a camp counselor.

Tony graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree in political science and minor study in economics. His radio and television work has included national and international assignments. Galli has been a guest correspondent on CNN's Larry King Show.

Tony and his wife, Kelly, a former member of the Dane County Board of Supervisors, live in Madison with their beloved dog, Max, a black labrador retriever. Tony's son, John is a university student and a Madison West High School graduate.

Carl Agnelly
27 News Reporter

Carl Agnelly couldn't resist checking out Madison for himself. He joined the 27 News team in September 2004. The previous two years, he worked as an education reporter and weekend anchor in Rapid City, SD at KOTA-TV. In 2001, he interned in sports at KTRH-AM in Houston, TX. He was born in Louisiana and graduated summa cum laude from Louisiana State University in mass communication, with a minor in business. He also dabbled in chemical engineering and architecture before settling on journalism as a career.

Carl loves sports, but it's tough to follow his teams from the South. He's already been devoting parts of his Sunday's to watch Packers' games. When time allows, Carl enjoys the random road trip. He has yet to step foot in Alaska and Hawaii; the other 48 states have been scratched off his list. No matter the location, don't be surprised if you walk into a coffee shop and find him sipping a frozen coffee and reading the newspaper or a good book.

He also delivered the keynote address twice at the National Young Leaders Conference, spoke at the Newseum in Washington, and was profiled on PAX-TV's "Extraordinary Everyday People."
